Louwman Group acquires car rental company Autohopper

Louwman has acquired a 100% interest in Autohopper, a car rental chain and franchise formula. With more than 120 locations throughout the country, Autohopper is the largest car rental chain in the Netherlands. With this collaboration, Louwman considerably expands its range of flexible mobility.

The acquisition fits in with the growth ambitions of both companies. For Autohopper, the acquisition provides an opportunity to continue its responsible growth, retaining the successful business concept. For Louwman, the collaboration with the franchisees and with both founders of this successful car rental concept further substantiates its ambition to be a leading mobility provider. Together, Autohopper and Louwman can respond even better to the increasing demand for flexible mobility.

Autohopper is showing healthy growth: its network, vehicle fleet and market share are all growing strongly. Autohopper’s service complements that of Louwman, and focuses particularly on short-term rentals (private and business).

John Heller, Louwman Group CEO: “We want to grow further together with Autohopper and the franchisees.” Together, we can develop sustainable mobility solutions that provide for our customers’ changing needs. In addition to short-term and long-term leasing, financing and sharing cars, motorcycles, bicycles and other mobility, renting cars is important for Louwman customers. In that market, Autohopper is a leading player.”

Mark Dekker and Steven Donselaar, founders of Autohopper in 2011: “The continuity of our business concept is paramount. For our franchisees and our customers, it’s business as usual. But now we can provide the additional opportunities offered by the collaboration with Louwman Group. We will remain personally connected for the longer term and we look forward to strategically expanding our rental and mobility business together.”
